The Tories are going to throw you and your loved ones under the wheels of a pandemic and see who crawls out alive: truly a policy of the ultra right and eugenicists like Dominic Cummins.
There have been many warning signs that something like this was coming over several decades as the UK has drifted inexorably to the right:
- Thatcher’s ‘no such thing as society’
- Blair and his right wing cronies dancing to the Murdoch tunes.
- Blair’s naked fury about the fuel tanker strike of 2000
- The dodgy dossier and illegal invasion of Iraq that killed millions.
- David Cameron’s ‘austerity’ killing 130,000 – his only regret that it didn’t go further.
- Benefit claimants treated like criminals.
- Unemployed and poor people demonised
- Disabled and sick people endlessly investigated, bullied and verbally abused in the street.
- Vulnerable people driven into abject destitution with benefit sanctions.
- The terminally ill told they are ‘fit for work’.
Warning signs…
- Workers have become zero hours bio robots.
- Immigrants staffing the NHS became the enemy (though not at the moment)
- Racist bill boards in London; UK citizens wrongly deported
- Theresa May at Grenfell Tower – shielded from the families of victims that burned to death
- Nigel Farage whipping up populist hatred against Europe and ‘outsiders’.
- The divisive hatred and lies of Tory narratives on race and national identity
- Junior doctors and judges becoming ‘enemies of the people’.
- MP’s becoming ‘traitors’
Warning signs…
- Newspaper columns with openly racist electoral gambits
- Mass homelessness normalised.
- Food banks part of everyday life
- Tenants evicted during a pandemic
- Nurses, bereft of any PPE, dying at NHS hospitals
The more moderate Tories that once tried to balance opportunity, personal responsibility and social concern are long gone: banished by a depraved cabal who regard us as the enemy and the UK as occupied territory.
To modern Tories, you and your loved ones are expendable until you need something: then you are a nuisance and a threat.
As I watched Sky News last night breezily discussing the need to ‘balance’ the needs of the old (to stay alive) and the young, (to have a lifestyle) the truth hit me: the Tories haven’t abandoned their eugenicist ‘herd immunity’, they have just changed the spin. They decided months ago that tens and maybe hundreds of thousands of deaths are a price they are quite happy to pay to protect capital.
Most of the dead will be in demographics that the Tories regard as bothersome and agreeably reduced anyway: namely old people and those with ‘underlying health conditions’. Are the Tories cynical and amoral enough to condemn say 250,000 people to death via a preventable pandemic? I would say that they are and there is every indication that this was the plan all along.
The current partial lock down (millions remain at non-essential workplaces) and half arsed testing / mitigation efforts revolve around PR spin not medical reality. There are already mutterings about relaxing the lock down by Easter and this wouldn’t surprise me. Where Donald Trump leads the Tories will follow.
Quite how the establishment is going to gaslight the nation into not noticing the vastly lower death rates of other countries remains unclear – but I am sure they will manage it somehow. Many people loved being lied to; it makes their questionable morality easier.
If you or your loved ones should die in the days ahead, the Tories will shrug, not give a fuck and bank whatever money they can. Same old story.
Did we really imagine that the same sociopaths and narcissists that have spent a decade actively punishing the vulnerable of British society would suddenly develop a conscience and place public health above their own financial interests?
Look at the lists above and tell me what you honestly expected them to do? ‘Herd immunity’ is just a euphemism for good riddance to troublesome statistics. The intense media focus on ‘social distancing’ fills the gap where an ethical and joined up health policy would otherwise be.
The UK is about to experience what happens when a pandemic hits a nation where many have stopped believing in society or morality: Thatcher’s triumph complete.
There will be much talk of a ‘global pandemic’ – but Covid-19 is only a global pandemic in nations which are either unable or unwilling to respond to it as moral entities. There is no global pandemic in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and many other nations.
Sacrifice zones are easier to rationalise when they are somewhere else and confined to the powerless and voiceless – but soon the home counties will get a first hand experience. Will that change anything?
My biggest fear is not the mass morgues, dead NHS workers and bereaved families – that cannot be avoided now.
My deepest dread is that a majority will not seem to notice or care: just as they haven’t in the decades that led us to this point; just as they didn’t in the constituencies that recently returned a thumping Tory majority; and just as is revealed in the opinion polls that show a surge in Tory support.
If it transpires that the Tories end up being rewarded for their amoral eugenics and callous indifference towards this pandemic, I will finally know that the nation of my birth is morally rotten to the core…and quite certifiably insane.
Since 2013 I have worked between 4-6 hours a day on this Ad-Free site: trying to give a voice to those without the power or agency to speak out for themselves and uncovering truths that well paid journalists in the corporate media dare not utter.
I am a home schooling parent on a low income – paying for the domain, web hosting and security entirely out of my own pocket.
