When people like Rishi Sunak and Ursula Van Von Der Leyen are chatting happily about ‘private investment’ in Ukraine before the devastation of war has even slowed, you know this won’t end well for ordinary Ukrainian folks, but will end very well for vulture capital and western multi-nationals..
.
Once the collective west has no further use for Ukraine, the western media will lose all interest and ongoing ‘support’ will comprise of crippling loans and a neoliberal asset stripping of whatever is left. This sacrifice zone will be done and on to the next one. Business as usual.
Ask Afghanistan about the hand of western friendship, ask Greece or Ireland and any number of African states about the endless debts that ordinary people have to pay interest on forever.
First you flip a corrupt leader like Zelensky or just leave a country shattered behind you like NATO did in Libya (and will do in Ukraine), then the IMF swoops in with egregious loans, the multinationals build unwanted and substandard infrastructure with the IMF’s funny money and develop ‘strategic partnerships’ to asset strip whatever they can.
The west cleans up coming and going, an impoverished nation is left with many an ecologically ruinous hydro dam etc and a mountain of debt repayments, all exports and much public spending suddenly have to go towards debt servicing, bleeding them dry, making them forever reliant on more western ‘aid’ and of course…more loans.
Small wonder that many southern nations are hostile to Biden and the west – happy to develop actual economic partnerships with China that don’t leave them mired in debt, shattered by war and dealing with endless mine fields and depleted uranium.
Since 2013 I have worked on this Ad-Free site: trying to give a voice to those without the power or agency to speak out for themselves and speaking simple truths that well paid journalists in the corporate media dare not utter.
