Act now to stop genocide in Gaza – or dwell forever in shame

History will record what you did during the massacres in Gaza in 2023. It will ask what you did when crypto fascists took over the Israeli government and launched a genocide against the Palestinian people.

History will ask where were you when Israel :

• Butchered tens of thousands of Palestinians
• Killed a child every ten minutes
• Dropped twice the munitions on Gaza than unleashed by the Hiroshima bomb
• Bombed refugee camps, tower blocks, mosques and schools
• Attacked civilian convoys, ambulances and hospitals
• Murdered journalists, rescue workers, nurses and aid workers
• Shut off ALL fuel, food, water, electricity and medicine to 2.4 million people

History will ask what you were doing:

• When Israel dropped white phosphorous on civilian targets
• When the population of an entire city was being starved to death and their water supply cut
• When entire extended families were wiped off the map by Israeli bombs
• When burned and maimed children had to endure operations without anaesthetic
• When all the hospitals in gaza were attacked and shut down
• When Israeli snipers shot patients through hospital windows
• When newborn babies had to be removed from powerless incubators
• When doctors refused to leave dying patients in burning hospitals – only to be killed themselves

Let us be clear. There can be no moral justification for genocide.

No singular act of terrorism from Hamas can justify the fascist atrocities that is Israel is committing in Gaza right now. No security operation or hand waving about antisemitism can be used as any kind of excuse. The industrialised slaughter of defenceless and trapped innocents is not war – it is murder.

Courageous Jews and Israelis around the world are protesting against these outrages in large numbers – those who protest in Israel risk assault, arrest and murder.

But it doesn’t matter to me what you believe or where you live, your moral responsibility to act AT ONCE to stop the genocide in Gaza is total. While the shameful complicity of the western political and media complex is perhaps no more than many would expect – their moral bankruptcy cannot be ours.

To anyone that knows me – be they acquaintance, friend or family I say two things.

(a) You cannot now say you haven’t been told.

(b) If you don’t act now to oppose this modern day holocaust in Gaza then forget about being any kind of friend of mine.

I don’t care if I have to get rid of a few rotten apples or the whole barrel – if you can sit still for this and allow the corporate media to soothe your conscience with fascist lullabies, then jog on – I want nothing more to do with you.

While the mass protests around the world are a start, they are not enough. We should be seeing mass civil disobedience, a total boycott of Israeli goods and zero tolerance towards the bullying, lies and obfuscations of the Israeli lobby and their client politicians and journalists. 

This is the moment. History will record what we all do.

If we pull together and speak with one clear moral voice then we can stop this genocide before half a million or more are dead and if we don’t…

…then we will NEVER live down the shame of what we allowed to happen to the Palestinians in 2023.
