“It’s not so much staying alive, it’s staying human that’s important. What counts is that we don’t betray each other” George Orwell.
The ongoing siege of Gaza that is slowly killing over 2 million people is not a “humanitarian crisis” – it is a genocide. The ongoing bombardment of Gaza is not part of a war – it is a massacre of innocents.
The real “humanitarian crisis” is located in Israel, where some have abandoned their humanity to commit and enable evil acts and others have swapped their humanity for an illusory safety. Those who refuse to surrender their humanity in Israel are being oppressed, for they like the Palestinians are a constant reminder of this truth.
Israel may have the licence to commit crimes against humanity but has lost its collective freedom to retain its humanity.
We, citizens of the Western Empire, are in the same dark vale. Our governments have long since lost their humanity. Some of us participate in the evils that spread chaos and death abroad; some support the grotesque suffering and inequality we have unleashed at home; some shamefully remain silent of our gathering collective inhumanity; and those that speak out are oppressed.
As Israel commits horrifying atrocities in Palestine, the real “humanitarian crisis” is in Tel Aviv, Washington and Europe.
The horrors of Gaza bring only one good thing: they send up a bright flare of illumination. For just a moment the illusory shadows of the puppet masters are exposed and we see that we – not those othered – live in an empire of evil.
A stark choice is forced on us in these dark days: we either give everything to retain our humanity or we give up on being human altogether, betraying ourselves and each other. As we said yesterday – it’s time to choose.

Since 2013 I have worked on this Ad-Free site: trying to give a voice to those without the power or agency to speak out for themselves and speaking simple truths that well paid journalists in the corporate media dare not utter.
I am a home schooling parent on a low income – paying for the domain, web hosting and security entirely out of my own pocket.
If you find this website useful and could spare us a few shillings to help keep our lights on, it would be very much appreciated.
Thank you in solidarity with all our readers. John Lynch, Editor.
