Western media is gaslighting people into cheerleading for genocide in Gaza – they must be exposed and stopped

.

On Sky News, a Palestinian journalist who had seen 30 members (17 of them children) of her immediate family killed by Israel, had to listen to the anchor say that while Hamas had ‘killed’ 1400 Israelis on October 7th, over 4000 Palestinians had ‘died’ in Gaza. Sky News cannot say that Israel has killed innocent Palestinians – they just ‘die’ in some mysterious process.

After a protest in Belfast, the BBC issued a statement :

Hamas kills Israelis – but Gazans just suffer from an unknown malady.

This is nothing new. When Israel shelled a Gazan school in 2014, killing many children, The Guardian headline was ‘The World Stands ashamed’ – not Israel.

Now not only need Israel not feel ashamed about killing 1,700 Palestinian children in 2 weeks , but the west insists we need not be ashamed either, in fact it offers fulsome support. The western framing of the horrors of Gaza is a frantic gaslighting exercise.

Israel is conducting fascist massacres in Gaza. Thousands are being slaughtered for the ‘crime’ of their ethnicity – part of a pattern of racist murders that Israel has committed with impunity for decades.

Israel has switched off all basic supplies to Gaza, effectively a concentration camp, blockaded by air, land and sea for 16 years. 2 million people are now threatened with a 21st Century holocaust – facing death by starvation, thirst and disease.

The Israelis themselves have said they are prioritising damage over accuracy, eradication over containment and that Gaza is to be reduced to a city of tents.

The western media is framing these atrocities as the ‘Israel vs Hamas war’ and as a ‘humanitarian crisis’.

A war sees two armies fighting – but in Gaza, a small terrorist resistance force is firing rockets while in hiding from one of the largest and most powerful military forces in the world. That is not a war.

Hamas made one heinous attack against civilians on October 7th – but Israel has been launching heinous attacks on civilians every day since. One act of terrorism being used to justify a fortnight of murderous indiscriminate bombing.

In wars civilians can leave the combat area – but Gazans cannot. In wars soldiers shoot each other on the front lines – but Gaza is a city surrounded and attacked ceaselessly by cowards from the air.

There is no natural disaster in Gaza which is causing starvation, disease and dehydration amongst an entire civilian population – Israel is doing that. Framing the consequences of the Israeli siege as a ‘humanitarian crisis’ obscures the truth that Israel is wholly responsible.

The west wants to imply with euphemisms and crocodile tears that (yet again) it stands sorrowfully powerless to prevent the mass murder of Palestinians. But the U.S. could pull the plug on Netanyahu and his cronies in an instant if they wished, but instead they help to cover up Israel’s atrocities, send more weapons and drape themselves in the Israeli flag.

We cannot oppose what Israel is doing in Gaza until we properly classify their actions. We must not allow the west to privilege the lives of Israelis over Palestinians nor allow them to artfully airbrush Israeli atrocities out of the public consciousness.

The western media and political class must not be allowed to wash their hands sorrowfully as Israel commits genocide in Gaza – for they are up to their necks in it and must be held accountable for their cowardice, lies and gaslighting.

The media is singing a fascist lullaby to you, hoping you’ll fall cosily asleep through a new Night of The Long Knives in Israel and then a fascist holocaust in Gaza. Wake up! Wake everyone around you up! Protest is all that stands between millions of people and death.

Let the whole world know that we don’t believe the lies we are being told and do not accept the tasteful re-framing of Israel as warriors for our ‘shared values’ .

Since 2013 I have worked on this Ad-Free site: trying to give a voice to those without the power or agency to speak out for themselves and speaking simple truths that well paid journalists in the corporate media dare not utter.

I am a home schooling parent on a low income – paying for the domain, web hosting and security entirely out of my own pocket.

If you find this website useful and could spare us a few shillings to help keep our lights on, it would be very much appreciated.
