This vilification of Iran is the mother of all smoke screens…

This is beyond parody. An OUTRAGE that perfectly illuminates the moral free fall that millions of us are a furious witness to, a complete inversion of all logic and morality.  

In six months of genocidal carnage in Gaza Israel has murdered 35,000 souls including 13,800 children and injured another 80,000. Heaven knows how many more are still buried under the rubble created by an onslaught of 45,000+ bombs dropped on an area the size of East London. 

Hundreds of thousands are displaced and homeless, an entire city is being bombed, starved and dehydrated to death right now – all civilian infrastructure lies in ruins, Gaza’s healthcare system is gone, bombed, burned, stormed and vandalised. 

We have seen many massacres, children shot by sniper rifles, hospital patients evicted from wards, then executed and then tossed into mass graves with their catheters still attached.

Doctors, aid-workers, journalists all murdered by the score.

Israel’s fascist outrages in Gaza (and now the occupied West Bank) have arrived on a daily basis for 6 months – and what censure has Israel faced from the EU during that time? Nothing beyond a limp-wristed wail for a ceasefire after 6 months of butchery. 

*** NOTHING IN SIX MONTHS ***

and yet – *** 24 hours *** after Iran responded to an Israeli attack on its consulate in a measured way (their response harmed no-one) the EU is rushing to impose sanctions on Iran – not Israel – Iran – and all the while demanding that Iran shows restraint!

As George Galloway might say, this is the mother of all smoke screens, designed to condition western audiences into the idea that Iran is the aggressor and Israel a victim. It is a desperate attempt to distract the world’s attention away from western complicity in Israel’s genocide and part of an ongoing strategy to licence the collective punishment of Palestinian civilians by juxtapositioning them in the news feeds alongside Hamas and now Iran.

The depth of cynicism and moral bankruptcy revealed by this move from the EU is almost beyond belief. The EU has zero credibility left and it is no position whatsoever to wag fingers at Iran or anyone else.

The EU should put its own house in order before it presumes to lecture the world, it should immediately end its supine complicity with Israel’s genocidal regime and those within the EU who are complicit in enabling Israel’s genocide should be put on trial at The Hague.

This won’t happen of course, for the EU has found a magic mop for the blood of dead Gazan children – its called Iran, a hand wash tor all of the West’s blood stained hands. 

The EU and the rest of the western political and media class must not be allowed to get away with this cover up – don’t fall for it – fight it with every scrap of strength you have.
