24 Palestinians were murdered last night in an attack on a refugee shelter. Overnight Israel has indiscriminately bombed Gaza, killing and injuring yet more cowering families. At least 29,514 Palestinians have been murdered and 69,616 injured by Israel since October 7th.
UNRWA says it can no longer provide services in north Gaza. Across the strip Israeli attacks on civilians and their ongoing blockade on food have left the population starved and with little to no access to clean water.
But you wouldn’t learn of this from The Guardian, BBC, Sky News etc who hardly mention Gaza today. The Times focuses on the ‘threat’ posed by a ‘Gaza activist’ to the UK Parliament instead. There is no reference to Gaza AT ALL on the splash pages of The Guardian’s UK and Europe portals
Western media outlets are news-washing Israel’s genocide via narrative management, selective journalistic amnesia and outright lies. As ever, the job of western media portals is to manufacture consent for the sins of empire.
Netanyahu is readying a final assault on Rafah. The Western political and media class are scrambling to cover themselves via token expressions of opposition, while continuing to provide Israel with weapons, money, political cover and media camouflage.
The obscene pantomime of the UK Parliament’s vote on a Gaza ceasefire saw denizens of the Westminster bubble placating the Israeli lobby by dodging their moral obligations. What a despicable spectacle to watch enablers of Israel’s genocide claiming they deserve more protection and compassion than the victims of it.
Tony Benn famously said that “the way a government treats refugees is very instructive because it shows you how they would treat the rest of us if they thought they could get away with it.”
We had a sneak preview of that on Sky News today, as Latvia’s foreign minister Krisjanis Karins urged NATO members and allies to introduce conscription to boost the West’s war against Russia.
The timing of this media trial balloon is not coincidental. Ukraine is haemorrhaging soldiers and without a fresh infusion of cannon fodder, defeat is inevitable. Whose blood will paint the future for Biden and Zelensky’s ‘new Israel‘? The blood of our families and loved ones it seems.
From the very start of Israel’s butchery in Gaza, we said that what happens in Palestine will not end there. Western audiences being encouraged to abandon the Palestinians to their fate, needn’t imagine that drinking the Kool Aid of western propaganda will keep them safe from the psychopaths that spin it.
A new world order is being created, one in which there will be only five classes: the elites, the precariat, the destitute, refugees from western wars and cannon fodder for western wars.
If we don’t fight now to deliver the Palestinians from genocide and to save Ukraine from endless war…then we will have to live in the world created by our inactions, a world in which the western empire imagines its power transcends any rules based order or collective moral reproach.
If you want to know what kind of world that would be, then you need only watch as Israel rolls in the bulldozers to shovel the Palestinians into mass graves. In this dystopian new world we will be as expendable to the elites as the dead and maimed Palestinian children I see every day in my news feeds.
Don’t say we didn’t warn you. Protest now or live with the consequences.
